Safety guide
Stay safe
Simple rules that protect you from fraud when buying, renting or selling a property.
For everyone
- Never pay a token, advance or "booking fee" before you have seen the property in person.
- Check the original ownership papers (registry, intiqal, fard or allotment letter) and match the CNIC of the owner.
- Meet in daylight, in a public place or at the property, and take a family member or friend with you.
- Never share OTP codes, passwords, bank PINs or pictures of your CNIC in chat.
- Be careful with prices that look too good to be true, and with people who rush you.
- Report a suspicious listing or person with the "Report" button, or contact us.
Buyers and tenants
- Visit the property and the area before deciding. Check road access, water, electricity and gas connections.
- Ask the society or development authority whether the plot or file is genuine and free of dues.
- Get the documents checked by a lawyer you choose yourself.
- Pay by bank transfer or pay order in the name of the real owner, never in cash to a middle person, and always take a written receipt.
- Tenants: sign a written rent agreement and register it with the police where required. Note the meter readings on the first day.
Owners, sellers and landlords
- Never give original documents to anyone. Show copies, and the originals only at the time of the deal.
- Confirm that payments have really arrived in your account before handing over keys or signing transfer papers.
- Check the CNIC of buyers and tenants, and verify tenants through the police.
- Be careful with "overseas buyers" who ask for fees or send fake payment slips.
Agents
- Post only properties you are allowed to sell or rent, with real photos and real prices.
- Write down your commission and terms before a deal and share them with your client.
- Never take money from clients without a receipt in your name or your agency's name.
- Keep your clients' personal details private.
Agencies
- Check the CNIC and references of every agent you add to your team.
- Use your registered office address and company documents on your profile; get the Verified badge.
- Keep records of every deal, payment and agreement.
- Train your team on these safety rules and act quickly on complaints.
